Bachelor of Science (Information Technology)


i. Introduction

> Today, the term information technology (IT) has ballooned to encompass many aspects of computing technology and the term is more recognizable than ever before. A few of the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management, networking engineering, computer hardware, database and software design, as well as the management and administration of entire systems. When computer and communications technologies are combined, the result is information technology or 'infotech'.

> Information Technology (IT) is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate and / or disseminate information.

> B. Sc. (Information Technology) is an integrated three year full time course and is conducted in six semesters. This programme has been developed to study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware.

ii. Objectives

> To make seminal contribution at perspective policy and practice levels and to all dimensions of interrelationship between technology and development, including the techno- economic, financial and institutional dimensions related to IT.

> To Provide training facilities in those areas where special skills are required for efficient performance of the job in the field of IT.

> To impart state of art education and technical expertise to students in the area of IT.

> To develop skills, understanding, interest and attitudes which would enable the student of foster all-round growth and development of the student under their care related to IT.

iii. Intake capacity - 60 Seats.

iv. Eligibility

> A candidate for being eligible for admission to the degree course of Bachelor of Science - Information Technology, shall have passed XIIth Standard Examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or it's equivalent with Mathematics and Statistics as one of the subject and should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate for open category and 40% marks in aggregate in case of reserved category candidates.
